However, following the collapse of its algorithmic stablecoin TeraUSD (UST), and the cryptocurrency Luna, the network suddenly became a shadow of itself. The value of both properties dropped by more than 99%, leaving investors with a sour experience.
After several considerations, TerraForm Labs, the development firm behind the Terra blockchain, resorted to forking the network into a new chain, and also created a new cryptocurrency, Terra 2.0 (LUNA).

Overview of LUNA 2.0 and Market Price
New Terra Blockchain and LUNA 2.0 Cryptocurrency gone live on 28 May. The former Terra Chain and cryptocurrency were named “Terra Classic” and “LUNC”, respectively, while the new chain and cryptocurrency retain the original names “Terra” and “Luna”.
As the founder of the Terra Network, Do Kwon, proposed, LUNA 2.0 crypto was broadcast to disgruntled investors who held LUNC before and during the price crash. The new crypto is currently on several major exchanges, however, according to CoinMarketCap, the market cap is down more than 70% from an all-time high.
At the time of writing, LUNA 2.0 was trading at $5.17 with a market capitalization of $1 billion. There are reportedly 210 million LUNA cryptos in circulation. Interestingly, the 24-hour trading volume is over 168% despite the low price.
